Speaking to local journalists, the Chaani sublocation subchief Mr Francis Musembi said that the villagers have not identified the animal since it attacks their domestic animals late night and disappears to the bushes.

"We are living in fear for our lives and those of our children who walk to school early morning, and could probably meet this wild beast and injure or even kill them," said chief Musembi.

In response to the complaints, the head of KWS officer in Machakos county, Kimani Ndiku said that the wild animals are disappearing in the thickened bushes due to rains.

He however promised that his team is doing their best and will not stop till they capture the animal to ensure safety of human and domestic life in the region.
