James Kiptanui, a resident said that such festive seasons come with increased number of travellers and PSVs take advantage to overload passengers and drivers increase speed in order to make more trips to increase their profits without knowing that this endangers lives of people.

“Drivers should ensure that they ferry passengers safely to their destinations and avoid over speeding. Passengers should also be vigilant not to be overloaded by greedy matatu conductors,” said Kiptanui.

Hesbon Mogesa, another resident said that bodaboda operators who over speed should be arrested by traffic police.

“Many residents will be moving from place to place to meet their relatives this Easter holiday. Bodaboda and matatu operators should drive carefully to ferry passengers smoothly,” added Mogesa.

He urged passengers travelling to avoid boarding vehicles which are full and instead help the police in identifying those matatu and bodaboda operators violating traffic rules to avoid road accidents.

Janet Omondi said that motorists plying different routes should be cautious and avoid speeding while driving on roads.

“Drivers should not drink and drive. Reckless driving is against the law. Anybody found driving while drunk should be arrested and taken to court,” she said.
