Nyamira county health chief officer Douglas Bosire has urged the residents to give a positive welcome the campaign against measles set to start next week.
Speaking in his office in Nyamira on Friday, Mr Bosire said the campaign targeting children within the age bracket of 6 months and 14 years will start on 16th to 24th this month.
He urged the parents of the targeted group to cooperate and embrace the initiative as it is geared towards curbing any cases that might arise after the long rains.
"I want to urge our parents and guardians of the children within the age bracket to welcome the programme and give any support that may be required by the health officials. This is aimed at countering any case that may arise as the long rains end," he said.
He, however, denied any outbreak in the county and said the purpose of the campaign is to prevent any new cases.
He also said that the vaccination is safe and said they did not expect any opposition as seen in the polio campaign.
"I want to assure the general public that the vaccine is safe and we don't expect any opposition as we experienced with polio," he added.
The week-long campaign's services will be available in all public health facilities, in schools during school days and in churches during the weekend.
