Rampant domestic violence resulting into death among youthful spouses in Kerina South Sub-county is a time bomb and there is a need for action be taken urgently.
According to Iyabe location Chief Joseph Mosumari last week alone they had received reports of two deaths related to domestic violence among young couples, and he is calling on elders to intervene and help in handling marital conflicts.
The chief was speaking today while attending a burial service at Kerina village where a young lady identified as Esther Kerubo was allegedly stabbed by his husband after accusing her of infidelity.
He said with the rising rate the whole community will not find the importance of being in any relationship if love related deaths are on the increase.
“We should ensure that we counsel our children as they grow up to ensure that we bring up a good society that can manage themselves when in a relationship,” he added.
“Few days ago, another woman was found at Sae SDA church compound and investigations are ongoing to ensure we get the persons involved and that is not the kind of life we need to live in the society,” he added.
The administrator called upon the religious leaders to help the government curb the rising domestic violence.
