Suneka Sub County Health Officer, Harriet Magoma, said that the disease is becoming a threat and it would be better for them to get early treatment and regular check up to successfully manage it.

Speaking during cancer awareness program organized by the county in Suneka Magoma said that most cancer patients get to know of their cancer status late, hence losing their lives.

“Prostate, breast and cervical are the most prevalent cancers in the country and can be detected early. When detected early, treatment becomes easier and cheaper. We want to inform and encourage wananchi to seek screening services at their health facilities before it is too late,” said Magoma.

She urged men above the age of 40 and women above 18 years to seek early detection for prostate, breast and cervical cancer.

She also added that all should change their lifestyles, exercise more, eat more vegetables and fruits and less of red meat.

If cancer runs in your family, then you know you are more likely to have the disease.
