Kisii town residents have been urged to recycle plastic containers rather than dumping them.

Rosa company director Julius Ochieng who led his colleagues in the region said that they were ready to purchase plastic containers.

"We bought the plastics at Sh 13 per kilogram and we crash them and export them to Uganda," he said.

He further said that recycling of the plastics was environmentally friendly and also a source of income.

Mr Ochieng also said that anyone who wanted to sell the plastic bags should collect call him and they were ready to collect them at their doorsteps.

Mr Ochieng promised the resident that the company will set a recycling plant in Kisii county to save the residents' hustle of waiting for too long before they are collected.

"We shall set up a plastic industry in Kisii in three months time for residents to enjoy more benefits of selling plastics," he said.

Residents also welcomed the idea saying that it would help in conserving the environment.

"I am very much delighted with the idea as it not only helps in keeping the environment clean but also gives income," said Ruth Moraa, a local.
