Athi River District Officer Peter Mose has called on residents to take seriously Early Child Education as a way of giving children good educational foundation in the region.
Mose said that the government had good policies which were geared towards ensuring that children’s education were taken seriously right from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to enable them have commendable academic backgrounds.
He disclosed that early child education had been neglected by the residents for a long period of time stating that majority ignored it with some taking their children to class one directly without the basic education.
The administrator therefore, urged parents to recognise Early Childhood Development ECDE and support their children consistently through primary, secondary and eventually institutions of higher learning without defect.
He lamented that the rate of children especially girl child who dropped out of school in either primary or secondary level were increasingly high in the region hence asked parents and teachers to support and encourage them to study up to highest levels of education.
The District Officer who made the remarks at a press briefing in his office, also called on the Machakos County Government to ensure that it timely provided all its pledges on education.
