Garissa town has over the past couple of years fallen from a once glorious and fast-growing town to a ghost environment due to insecurity.
The most affected are the citizens from other parts of country with lucky survivors closing down their businesses and to seek refuge in more secure places.
Amid these, local residents have now been urged to embrace unity and togetherness as the only way to restore the town back to its past and almost forgotten glory.
According to security analyst, Steve Lunalo, the local leadership should make attempts to calm down and reassure external investors who are still around lest the local towns remain with the nonbusiness minded people and finally hurting the local economy further .
‘'What these political leaders do not realise is the fact that we need the minorities to steer the town up to its glorious economic prosperity,’' said Lunalo.
‘'Nothing has yet been done to encourage other entrepreneurial Kenyans to remain here. The local people investors are now feeling the pinch, finding it even difficult to find tenants and this has resulted in a drop in rent levies," he stated.
