Uasin Gishu County governor Jackson Mandago has urged residents leaving in landslide areas to vacate with immediate effect.
The governor said by staying in those areas, residents are endangering their lives.
"Due to high rainfall that is being experienced in the region, I urge residents, especially those from Kapkoros village, to vacate and look for safer places," he said.
Speaking to journalists in Eldoret town on Monday, Mandago said the area is prone to landslides and so far, more than ten families have been affected.
"As the county government we have taken food stuff, clothing and beddings to the affected families," he said.
He also called upon residents to vacate from flood-prone areas, especially near rivers and dams.
‘‘Last year, twenty-one families in Kipkabus Dam were badly affected by flooding where they lost property worth thousands and we don't want a reoccurrence,” he said.
The governor said the county government is ready and prepared to deal with any emergency.
