An Organisation in Kisii known as OURU has urged the Riverside Village residents in Kisii County have not to rent buildings which are still under construction for their own safety.
The Organisation Chairman Noah Makori said that rooms or houses that are still under construction are never safe at all and advised those living in such houses to vacate and find alternative habitats.
This has come months after various houses in Nairobi Estates which were under construction collapsed killing occupants.
The call by the Organisation mainly targeted the Riverside Village residents as they live in such environments due to high house demand.
“Please do not cry to the county government after such accidents occur since everybody knows that it is never wise to live in unfinished buildings. I wonder why some still do find it proper to rent such houses, yet the witness people die when such houses collapse,” said Noah.
On the other hand, the residents said that they have no choice since according to them, there is shortage in rental houses in the area due to the high population of students who study in many University branches in Kisii, forcing them to live in such houses.
“We have to risk because we do not have any other place to go as we have businesses here and we have children who school in this areas,” said Nyambega, area residents.
