Garissa residents have been urged to work with all the security agencies in the county to improve the county’s security.
Njenga Miiri, the new Garissa County Commissioner, told the residents that the security issue is a collective responsibility which should not be left to the security agencies only.
Miiri, who was speaking during a farewell party of his predecessor Rashid Khator, congratulated Khator for the job that he had already done.
"I thank Khator and I assure him that all the work that he had already started will be completed. I will ensure that I deal with all the projects and developments that he had already started so that we can have a better county," Miiri said.
Miiri called upon the residentsto support the county government by giving the security agencies any kind of information that might be of help when it comes to curbing insecurity problems in the county.
"I have worked in a number of counties which have security troubles. I have come to realise that for the security of a place to be fully sustained, there must be a very good and working relationship between the members of the public and the security officers. I am urging you to improve the relationship you have with us," Miiri said.
Miiri was transferred from Lamu.
