The speed bumps were flattened during re-carpeting of the roads by the contractor hired by the county government and on completion he failed to put them back.

Lead by the Yatta and Masinga Secretary of Chamber of Commerce, Patrick Nzioka, residents lamented the situation had escalated accidents in Matuu town.

Speaking in Matuu town on Thursday while addressing the press, Nzioka called upon the county government to take the matter urgently to save lives.

“When the re-carpeting exercise was being done the bumps were removed and they forgot to return back on completion. The rowdy motor-cyclists have taken advantage of the situation to over speed which has increased accidents,” said Nzioka.

Steve Mutinda a resident at Matuu town said since the time the bumps were done away with three months ago the area has recorded countless road accidents.

“Motor cyclists have become extremely reckless and with the large population in town, each day we witness accidents,” said Mutinda.
