Locals claim that apart from making hazards to their health, the garbage is also scaring away investors in the town.

Lack of operational sewer system and poor management of environment has been blamed for the upsurge of dirty contents in the town with locals adding that the problem has blocked developments.

“The blame goes to the county government of Kiambu for its failure to put in place communal amenities that can guarantee that the town is sparkling and in turn entice investors,” said Joel Kiringu a business owner in Kamwangi town.

“The county government has been indolent as far as garbage management is concerned in our town. We are fed up with plain promises from the relevant authorities,” complained Ann Njoki, a town resident.

Jared Kiragu, a member of the Gituamba community said that the rotting piles of messes in the town could perchance trigger outbreak of killer diseases like cholera if the situation is not arrested.

Despite the residents piling pressure on the county government, they say that they only get enticed with promises but no action. They have vowed to litter the Gituamba-Thika Road on Saturday if the county government will not handle their grievances by then.
