Following an announcement that the County assembly of Kisumu is set to purchase iPads its Ward Reps, a section of residents have vowed to teach the local legislators a lesson by sending them home at the end of their term.
The locals have protested a tender notice published in Daily Nation on 4th May to purchase MCAs iPads.
A section of the locals noted that if the assembly moves on with the plan, the consequences will be dire.
Here are some of their reactions:
“This people forget that power lies in the hands of ordinary citizens. They think they can just get away with everything they do. Wait, 2022 is not far and you shall run to us desperately seeking for votes. Mtajua hamjui,” noted Silvester Kajwang.
“I am very disappointed with the MCAs. Instead of focusing on urgent needy issues in the county government they want to buy phones. This is so discouraging,” said Victor Oburu.
“The MCAs are very greedy fellows. An iPad is someone’s private affairs. These people are being too petty on the issue. I don’t support and neither will I ever support that,” stated Chris Otieno.
“The ex-MCAs were all bought gadgets by the county assembly. Where are the gadgets? It a public property and they should clear with the county assembly and return them. If they did so, ee would not be here buying new ones,” said Hillary Omondi.
“This is the reason I sometimes feel like leaving this country. Seriously iPads? Yet we have very serious pressing issues like poverty, poor housing. What kind of leaders do this county really have?”said Brian Onyango.
The locals noted that they will conduct demonstrations if the MCAs failed to abort the plans to purchase the iPads.
"I see a big demonstration looming. This MCAs need to be taught some sense," said Underson Odinga.
