Carwash estate residents in Kisumu’s Migosi ward have appealed to county government to repair drainage system in the area saying that flooding water causes a threat to their life.
Through their area secretary Cynthia Anguche, the residents said that their lives are at risk as the area floods after it rains.
Anguche said that the area has been suffering from poor drainage for a long time.
She noted that the flooding water weakens the foundations of most buildings and houses and asked the County government to move in fast to repair the drainage system.
“The flooding water weakens the foundations of buildings and houses and this is a threat to human life as this area is densely populated with very many buildings acting as rental houses. We have had this problem for a long time and it’s time the county government did something about it,” she said.
The official regretted that landlords in the area are on the losing end with some of their houses sinking due to weakened foundations.
“The lives of the residents should come first and we also want devolution to save us from this menace,” she noted.
