Naivasha youths now want both Uwezo, Youth and the Constituency Development (CDF) Funds consolidated into one major Kitty.
They claim that emergence of Uwezo Funds, Youth Fund and the Constituency Development Funds would see the cash distributed to them benefit everyone.
Speaking at a youth forum at KANU Grounds in Naivasha, Youths from Naivasha alleged that most of the Funds only benefited particular individuals.
“We have seen one individual or group receive cash from the three different Funds. The money is recycled across a few individuals. It would be easier if one kitty was handling the money,” proposed Joakim Maina, the area youth.
Andrew Mbogo, also a youth from the area claimed that the Funds are managed by the same team, making it wasy for them to practice corruption at the expense of the youths and women.
“In Naivasha the three Funds Kitty are managed by one Board which is ran by the area MP John Kihagi and his relatives. No one is benefiting from the cash disbursed to the residents,” claimed Mbogo.
They called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to ban distribution of the Funds till everything falls back to normalcy, citing that the cash was no no longer important and had lost its relevance in the area.
“They were initially created so that they can help improve citizens’ welfare. However, majority of the people are not seeing their benefit and deem it unnecessary,” said Benard Mwaura, area resident.
