Residents of Karinga, Gatundu South want the area assistant chief arrested and prosecuted after he allegedly beat a man to death.
According to a bodaboda rider, John chege, chief Patrick Kiarie and another man beat Paul Gachuhi on Wednesday evening to unconsciousness.
It is claimed that Gachuhi had questioned the chief on an alleged relationship he had with his wife.
Good Samaritans took Gachuhi to Gatundu hospital where he died.
"It was around 9pm and we were going home when our headman and another man attacked Gachuhi and beat him to unconsciousness. We called his wife who declined to take him to hospital; we decided to take him,” said Chege.
Lydiah Wanjiru, a witness, said that she was in the company of those who reported the matter to the police.
"The wife reported to the police that Gachuhi was attacked by a mob but we decided to go to the police and tell the truth,” said Wanjiru.
The area sub-county commissioner, Ngumo Karuko, has confirmed the incidence.
"We have recorded statements from eye witnesses and appropriate actions will be taken against the administrator,” said Karuko.
The suspects are yet to be arrested.
