Kisii County based activists and a section of residents have called on the Ethics and Anti corruption commission (EACC) to conduct a lifestyle audit of all former and current county employees.
This they said was because of massive corruption that is ongoing in the county.
Led by Gusii governance watch chairperson Lilian Mogendi on Wednesday said that since 2013 public funds have been wasted.
“Elected leaders in the County are colluding with departmental heads and other county staff to embezzle funds. EACC should intervene and have corrupt county staff and politicians arrested and prosecuted in a court of law,” said Mogendi.
Abraham Mose, a trader within Kisii town said corruption has led to the stalling of several development projects.
"Most projects are stalled as funds meant for development projects are being pocketed. This round we shall not seat down and watch things go out of hand," said Mr Mose.
Governor James Ongwae has for the last one month been pressured by residents to explain how he has been using county funds.
