The residents say that there was a lot of noise emanating from the speakers of the sellers which advertised the goods.

This has forced the residents to look for alternative means of coping with the noise.

“Even hotels like Avenue Suite residents cannot be at peace and relax as there are speakers and loud sound systems near them,” said Esther Njeri, a resident.

She cited that the blaring of the speakers was often an uncalled for nuisance.

They called on the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to help curb the noise.

“We cannot even be able to enjoy our trips to town. There is noise everywhere we are petitioning to the county government to get rid of the noise,” said Barrack Wamalwa.

Wamalwa lamented that it had become popular for phone operators to erect tents and speakers with no permits.

“This is infringing on our rights. We do not want the noise at all,” he added.

Nakuru County Implementation Committee chair Simon Wanyoike Wanango promised to look into the issue.

“We will have to analyse first the situation on the ground and then come up with an amicable solution” he added.
