Mr Geni has denied issuing cheques to students from Taita Taveta County, where his wife hails from, terming the allegations as ‘propaganda’ mounted by his opponents.

Independent investigations by this reporter can authoritatively report the issuance of North Mugirango CDF cheques to Shimbo Secondary School (Sh90,000) and another Sh100,000 to the same institution.

An additional Sh10,000 was also issued to Senior Chief Mwangeka Secondary School which is not in North Mugirango.

A section of youths led by Clifford Onyancha now want the Auditor General to investigate the claims and if found to be true, to urgently submit the same to Director of Public Prosecutions to prefer charges against the MP .

“We cannot be cowed anymore and as the people of North Mugirango, we say no to impunity. It’s time that the Auditor General investigates the matter and forwards a report to the Director of Public Prosecutions for action,” he said.

“The genuine beneficiaries are being given a raw deal while at the same time the CDF Act is being violated by those in power. We demand immediate action for the sake of restoring sanity in our constituency,” he added.

But when contacted on the phone on Wednesday, Mr Geni insisted the cheques were issued in accordance with the law.

During an earlier interview, the legislator had dared those challenging him to pursue the matter in court.
