Residents of Bulla Sheikh in Garissa county are now appealing to the national government to take over the management of Garissa Water and Sewerage Company.
The residents say Governor Nathif Jama's administration was doing little to maintain sewer lines and also ending the frequent water crisis facing the town.
"The water and sewer problem in this county is getting out of hand and county government is just watching helplessly. It is better the management of Garissa water company be reverted to national government," stated Ms Ahmed Akbar, a resident of Bulla.
Several other area residents who spoke said the relevant county water department is yet to respond or even initiate repairs in the sewer line days after it was reported.
"We informed them. But as you can see, we have not received any feedback from them," another resident said.
In May this year, Garissa Township legislator had hinted on reverting the services to the national government citing mismanagement by the county government.
