The residents allege that theft of livestock has risen up over the last month and want the government to increase the number of police to deal with the problem.

The residents claim that five homesteads have been raided and livestock stolen in the last month.

Mathew Etiang, a resident alleged that there is a network of criminals behind the theft of livestock in Moi Ndambi.

He said that the network knows the area in and out making it easy for them to steal livestock and disappear.

“It is a serious issue that needs the government and security intervention,” said Etiang.

Jonathan Ambiya, another resident said that he has lost five of his cattle to thieves.

He alleged that thieves broke into his homestead last weekend on Saturday and drove away the cattle.

Ambiya said that efforts to track and recover the cattle have been futile adding that the government needs to guarantee them safety.

“These are the people who reside in this area and know our activities in and out,” he said.

Reacting to the claims, Naivasha Sub county police boss Suleiman Mutembei urged residents to report the matter and write statements with the police.

“The government will investigate the matter and make sure appropriate action is taken,” he said.

He appealed to residents to report such crime instances to the law enforcers for immediate action.

He added that security officers will hunt down and deal with criminals who are allegedly operating in some towns and estates.
