Nakuru residents have appealed to the county government to track down the sellers of glue used popularly by street kids so as to stop their supply.
The residents cited that this was the only way the boys would agree to go into rehabilitation.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday the residents pointed out that many of the boys had expressed interest in stopping the habit but were doing drawn back to the substance.
“Unless we stem the problem form their root supply we cannot be able to address the menace which has become a huge problem to us," said Lilian King who mentors the boys.
She pointed out that having a rehabilitation center for such boys was tricky.
“Many often run away from the homes in search of the glue and hence it is of no use to take them there,” she added.
Samuel Karanja, the CEO of Ladder of Hope, Pointed out that NACADA should consider them as part of the rehabilitation process.
“They also need to be treated as this is also a serious addiction like alcohol and drugs,” he said.
Nominated MCA Esther Njeri Mengere Promised to table the motion before county assembly.
“The boys are at their most productive age and if left unchecked they can end up creating a mess in the society hence the need to protect them at such an early stage,” she added.
