This follows the endless fire incidents being caused by oil spills from the pipeline in the area.

Speaking to this writer this morning, the residents said that availability of a fire engine will help in averting the huge losses being caused by the persistent fire breakouts in the estate.

They said that reliance on the fire engine from Nakuru town was delaying efforts to fight fires whenever they break out.

“A place like pipeline is a sensitive and risky area which needs a standby fire engine because the oil from the pipeline can leak at anytime without notice and that is what has been happening. The government must provide us with an engine so that whenever there is a fire it can be controlled in time. Relying on the engine from town at times delays the efforts to put the fire off,” said Timothy Munywoki, a businessman in pipeline.

Teresia Wanjiku a resident added that most of the fires which break out in the area are small fires which can be put of but due to the lack of a fire engine the fires end up spreading quickly and causing huge damages.

“Most fires are not big fires when they break out but they spread so quickly and by the time the engine arrives from town the fire will have spread too quickly and that is why we need to have an engine here so that we can stop all these losses,” she said.

Pipeline estate has in the recent past reported fire breakouts resulting from oil spillages from the pipeline which passes in the area.
