Isaac Mariita, an electrician in the area said there are people in the slums who pretend to be agents mandated to sell power tokens to residents on behalf of the company. He noted that some tokens which resemble scratch cards are fake and they do not belong to the company.

"Do not be cheated by people asking you to bring money for them to sell tokens to you. Be watchful of such people who want to transact illegal business by the use of the company’s name," said Mariita.

He stated that one could obtain the power tokens by visiting the company's offices or send a message to a pay bill number belonging to the Kenya power company.

“If any person is found conducting such illegal businesses, they should be reported to the police for action to be taken. Let us remain safe and remember poor power connects is risky to lives since it can lead to fire that may cause loss of property and lives,” he concluded.
