Residents of Nyamira County have been warned against gambling during this World Cup season.
Nyamria County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru said residents are at risk of losing property in gambling of games.
“Gambling during this World Cup season will see several people losing their property. We must find a way to contain this trend." he said.
The county security boss said crime is likely to increase during this season because people will be looking for money to place bets.
“Police officers have instructions to intensify security patrols day and night to keep off criminals who may be out to look for money illegally to use in gambling.
"Parents should cooperate with police to ensure their children are not engaging in any form of crime,” he said.
Nakoru said locals must go straight to their homes once they finish watching World Cup games at bars and restaurants saying anyone who will be out to cause mayhem will be dealt with accordingly.
