Kangundo Member of County Assembly (MCA) Joseph Kilonzo has urged residents not to give out their personal details to strangers.
Speaking in Kangundo on Monday, Kilonzo cautioned residents against giving out their information to strangers moving from house to house promising to issue them with birth certificates.
“There are some groups of people going round the village asking residents of their signatures, identity cards and mobile phone numbers fooling them that they will process birth certificates for them," the ward representative said.
"If you want to apply for birth certificate do it in the government office and you will get it,” said Kilonzo.
Kilonzo said that the details could be used in criminal activities which may lead them into trouble without their knowledge.
The MCA further urged residents to register with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
“NHIF savings and payment is very important and affordable for everyone here,” said Kilonzo.
