Lugusa said the trend is worrying and police will not sit back and watch as things go bad.

He said every resident has a duty to ensure the city is safe and conducive for investments.

“This is our city, why destroy it, it is our duty to ensure things are in order, not going round burning and looting property,” he said.

The police boss said recent developments in the city will not be condoned since they scare away investors and leave business people with losses.

Addressing a press conference in Kisumu, Lugusa said action must be taken noting that arrests will be made to serve as an example.

He further warned the public not to be driven by happenings that occur far away like Nairobi to cause chaos in the city.

“To what extent do people of Kisumu get affected with what happens in Nairobi? Why use flimsy grounds to start chaos in Kisumu and end up looting and mugging,” he said.

He said the anti-IEBC protests in Kisumu have been hijacked by hooligans who use the occasion to loot and cause destruction to property.
