Kathiani sub-county residents specifically from Mbee and sub-locations have been warned from swimming in Muuoni dam which is the largest dam within the sub-county.
The warning has been issued by Mbee sub-location subchief Peter Ndee after increased death rates resulting from swimming in the dam.
In 2015 the dam cost caused 6 deaths an increase from 2014 where only two people lost their lives from drowning.
Ndee was speaking in a meeting held in Isyukoni market which is situated few metres from the dam after 10-year old boy lost his life last week, whereby the body was discovered on Feb 23 in the morning.
The body was taken to Machakos level five hospital mortuary.
He sent a warning to parents from that area asking them not to allow their children to go and swim from the dam.
"It's too bad all deaths which have resulted from drowning in Muuoni dam for the last two years are the young generation.
From today, I don't want to hear another case of drowning from the dam.
There are signs all over giving clear information on dangerous the dam is and everyone should read, understand and keep off the dam," said Ndee.
He added that anyone spotted idling near the dam will be prosecuted.
