Githunguri sub-county residents have been asked to be wary of people going round the area asking residents to contribute money for a fire extinguisher truck.
Dominic Gicheru who is the chief public officer has rubbished the exercise and termed it as ‘conmanship’.
"We have received reports that there are people going round cheating residents to contribute money for a fire extinguisher truck which I would like to ask residents to stay away from,” said Gicheru.
Gicheru has indicated that the county government has enough money for such an exercise and it would not resort to such a thing.
“There is a truck for the purpose in Githunguri and even in the other 11 sub-counties where they don't have one there is money for that,” added Gicheru.
The county official has now asked the aforementioned people to stop their ‘conmanship’ forthwith saying that they would be arrested and prosecuted. Gicheru was speaking to journalists yesterday in his Thika town office.
