Speaking yesterday in Kiambu Town, the residents said that the Bill comes at the right time when many governors have turned arrogant to their electorate.

The residents alleged that many governors and MCAs cannot talk to ordinary people because they feel superior.

Alice Mukami, a tea vendor at Kiambu Town said that governors and MCAs do not deserve the prestigious titles due to their arrogance.

“When they were hunting for our votes, they expressed humility but after getting in office they have brushed off our appointments with them,” said Mukami.

Her sentiments were echoed by Naftali Musangi, a mechanic in Kiambu Town who said that the governors and MCAs have failed to live to the expectation of the electorate.

“Most governors and MCAs are not interested in addressing common man's problems. Why accord them such titles? Asked Musangi.

The Bill, which is now awaiting Presidential ascent will also not spare Cabinet Secretaries, the Attorney - General and Auditor General from the list of states officers who shall be excluded from using sirens on their motorcades.

Those flouting the law will be fined between Sh1 million to Sh2 million or be jailed 12 months.
