Two top ODM officials from Kisii County have been asked to formally resign from their positions or face excommunication following their recent signs of joining Jubilee party.
Senator Chris Obure has been the party County Chairperson and though he did not attend the launching of Jubilee party, he has been pushing for its agenda while Deputy Governor Joash Maangi who till his defection was the party’s organising secretary attended the event.
County Assembly majority leader Protus Moindi on Monday accused the two leaders of failing to give a ‘firm’ stand and challenged them to relinquish their party positions.
“Maangi and Obure should come out clear and state their stand. We cannot continue having them hiding in the ODM party while they are singing Jubilee Government,” he said.
“They should formerly resign from their positions or get punished for the same. We are a democratic party and once you get out, it’s important that you leave us in peace,” he said.
Moindi also demanded that the two should seek a fresh mandate in compliance with political parties act to show their influence in Gusii politics.
“And it’s also fundamental that they resign from their current elective positions if they are serious with defection. We cannot be hoodwinked by fellows who do not have a stand,” he said.
