Machakos county governor Alfred Mutua has asked his employees to resign if they cannot deliver essential services to the county's residents.
Speaking to the press on Monday at his office, the governor sent a stern warning to incompetent officers, saying his administration cannot blink at incompetence and corruption in service delivery.
"I invite anyone not able to keep to the International Standards of works and services that we are setting up for the people of Machakos, to take a hike," Mutua challenged.
"I undertake to weed out workers who are corrupt, lethargic, incompetent and who are not committed to service. I will not allow one or two people to paint a negative image of others and to shortchange Wananchi who are hungry for speedy development and quality services," he added.
The governor has in the past suspended senior officers in different sectors including health and water departments over what he terms as 'gross incompetence and corruption.'
