Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has been told to resign if he cannot tame corruption in his administration.
A gubernatorial hopeful, John Komenda, said there are other leaders who can do better than Nyagarama in fighting the vice which he stated has stifled development in the county.
He also said county officials including MCAs spend over Sh300 million on trips to different countries instead of the money used in development.
“Controller of Budget report showed how the county assembly and the executive used Sh63 million in buying tea and mandazi, Sh300 million for trips and that is wastage of taxpayers money,” Komenda told journalists in Nyamira town on Sunday.
“We ask Governor Nyagarama to resign if he can't fight corruption in his administration so that leaders who are serious about development take over,” he added.
His sentiments were echoed by Charles Mochama, also eyeing the governorship, who urged the incumbent to take care of taxpayers' money.
