Youths in Uasin Gishu county have been advised against engaging in unproductive activities especially during this festive season.

Speaking during a youth concert and motivational day at Cheramei grounds, Jua Kali trading center in the outskirts of Eldoret town on Tuesday, celebrated gospel artist Moses Sirgoi challenged the youths to pursue the most important things in live and resit negatives.

"The future of our country is in the youths and this is why we are here today. We want them to focus on building their dreams, talents and avoiding liabilities like drug abuse," noted Sirgoi who was one of the facilitators of the event.

"We also want to identify talents in this region and see how we can sponsor and help them grow," he added.

Similar sentiments were shared by Emanuel Melly, a motivational speaker who asked parents to support their children's talents instead of forcing them on things they are not interested in.

"When a child says this is what I want to do, the best a parent can do is give full support to help that dream come true. The time of parents forcing children on some professions is long gone," Melly said.

"For the youth, I want to tell them to believe that they can make it. All they need to do is identify their passion and focus on it," he added.

The event themed 'My Strength my Asset' was graced by popular gospel artist Gloria Muliro.
