[Photo|Ali Hassan Joho]"RESOLUTIONS OF THE SECOND COAST REGION PEOPLE’S ASSEMBLY HELD IN UHURU GARDENS, MOMBASA COUNTYWe the people of the Coast Region, representing the Counties of Lamu, Tana River, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale and Taita Taveta have convened here today in our second People’s Assembly to chart our political destiny. We extend a hand of friendship to our brothers and sisters who have embraced the People’s Assembly, and we look forward to sitting with them in the National Convention to resolve once and for all the political injustices that we have suffered together under colonialism and neo-colonialism.We are honored by the presence of our President H.E. Raila Amolo Odinga, and our Deputy President H.E. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, and leaders from other parts of the republic who have graced this historic occasion. The Coast is a crucible of the historical injustices that has made it necessary and imperative to convene the People’s Assembly. Our deliberations today have been characterized by outpouring of emotions and unwavering resolve to bring to an end once and for all, the betrayal and suffering of the people of the Coast by successive administrations that have denied generations of our people the fruits of independence. It is time to end this bitter harvest. To this end, we have resolved as follows:We restate the resolutions of the first Peoples Assembly held in Kikambala, Kilifi County on 17 December 2017 which are the following;• To reiterate that we do not recognize the illegitimate presidency of Uhuru Kenyatta, and to state in no uncertain terms that we shall not accept the institutionalization of sham elections in Kenya. There will be no business as usual until a democratically elected President assumes office.• To reiterate our unwavering support and loyalty to H.E Raila Amolo Odinga, the rightful President of the Republic of Kenya.• To participate in and support fully the People’s Assembly process until we restore democracy or go our separate ways. . To put Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee administration on notice that we shall not sit by as the operations of the Port of Mombasa are relocated to the hinterland. Coastal resources, including the Port of Mombasa are our God given endowment, and so it shall remain.• To observe that we recognize the Jubilee administration’s political agenda is to dismantle the 2010 Constitution in the manner and for the reasons that the Jomo Kenyatta administration dismantled the independence constitution, reneging on the Lancaster House settlement between the Coastal Strip and the Kenya colony.• To invoke our right to self-determination as enshrined in Article 1 of the International Declaration of Human Rights and to pursue this as provided for in the Constitution of Kenya 2010, and in this regard, to convene a self-determination convention as a matter of urgency.Further, we record our unequivocal support for the swearing in of H.E Raila Amolo Odinga and H.E Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka on 30 January 2018, and urge all Coast people who are able to grace the occasion. SIGNED AND DATED,THE COAST PEOPLE’S ASSEMBLYSUNDAY, JANUARY 21, 2017."
