Nakuru County Commissioner Muhammed Birik has urged National Land Commission to resolve land rows in Nakuru to curb plots-related conflicts in the area.
Speaking in Nakuru on Tuesday, Birik urged the commission's chairman, Muhammed Swazuri, to find a permanent solution to land issues in the area.
For more than two decades, land rows have been the major problem affecting Rift Valley residents.
Birik said the commission needs to avert clashes like the one witnessed in Mai Mahiu recently.
"Nakuru has generally been volatile due to land conflicts," said Birik.
He said the violence that rocked Utheri wa Lari farm in Naivasha could have been controlled by the land stakeholders. The violence left two people dead.
Birik urged the police officers in the area to bring to book those behind Lari conflicts.
“Many people in Nakuru County have lost their lives through land conflicts,” said Birik.
