President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked European countries to respect the sovereignty of African nations by desisting from interfering with key decisions made by them.
In a thinly veiled attack to the the EU, Kenyatta regretted that while African countries respected decisions made by European countries regarding their sovereignty on the international fora, the same was not being replicated when it comes to Africans.
"I cannot think of any African I know who did not accept that the United Kingdom had the rights to choose to leave the European Union. But if Africans attempt to exercise their sovereign will,we hear a barrage of voices which tell us we can't," he said.
The sentiments come on the backdrop of strained relationship between African countries and the International Criminal Court (ICC) in which some African states notably South Africa and Gambia have initiated a formal process of withdrawing amid backlash from some European countries.
The head of state spoke Saturday evening at the the 2nd Annual Diplomatic Forum held in Kampala Uganda.
