The MCA said that opposition is trying to intimidate some government agencies that have been established by the constitution.

Chege said that Cord leaders are intimidating the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

“Opposition leaders should stop intimidating and threatening commissioner of the electoral commission,” he said.

Mr Chege said that Cord leaders were part of the team that formed IEBC and that it is ironical the same leaders want the commissioners’ sacked.

Speaking at Ruiru town on Wednesday, the MCA added “Politicians should stop using their personal interests and put the interests of Kenyans first".

The MCA also said that Cord is not justified in using violence and protests to call for disbandment of IEBC.

“There are clear mechanisms that opposition can use to have IEBC disbanded instead of inciting supporters to violence,” he added.

On Wednesday during a tour of Nyamira County, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that the government will not allow opposition leaders to incite and cause violence in the country.

He asked Cord leaders to utilize existing channels to remove IEBC commissioners instead of demonstrations.

Cord wants IEBC disbanded accusing it of being influenced by external forces.

The coalition has said that it will continue camping at IEBC offices until when the commissioners will be sent home.
