A section of MCAs have expressed displeasure at the way some Kenyans criticised First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.

Nominated MCAs Lydia Ndege and Farida Salim explained the difficult of being a woman leader in Kenya.

“The hardest task in Kenya is being a wife to a prominent person. They will judge you for all the reasons from embezzlement of funds to how you d not know the plight of the poor and even try to dampen your spirits when you do anything for a good course and brand it with "their taxes affair",” said Ms Ndege.

She added that many people do not even recognise that first ladies have a kitty allocated to them as a spouse to run activities and that it even becomes an abomination for their husbands to cheer them on and congratulate them for every good thing they do.

“Women being the most complainers are their own worst enemies. Well, pray your spouse or future husband never has political ambitions because even if you were the head of women's guild in church at that point you become a "thief" in the eyes of the mwananchi,” said Ms Ndege.

She stated that the role of a first lady is not to poke her nose in state affairs in the name of advising the president since there are people employed to do that adding that wisdom and common knowledge requires her to stick to her lane and concentrate on her projects.

Ms Salim said the first lady remains her role model.

“What she is doing is impacting very positively on the health of women and children in Kenya. She is helping to save lives. This is an act of humanity. I salute her,” she said.
