Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has called on Deputy President William Ruto to respect other leaders.
Joho who is Ruto's political rival in the quest for 2022 elections, accused the DP of 'disrespecting' other leaders because of his position in government.
He asked Ruto to address his fellow politicians in a friendly manner irrespective of their political stands.
"I want to tell the DP Ruto to respect other leaders. It costs nothing to respect other people. Kenya is bigger than anyone of us and so we need to stay united. Let us all exercise respect to each other," Joho said in Mombasa, Sunday.
Flanked by his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi, and the Coastal ODM leadership, the leaders met the people of Kilifi at Mtwapa for a political address.
Joho has announced plans to run for presidency in 2022, and will likely be battling it out with Ruto.
The ODM deputy party leader has been seen as a great political rival of Ruto, since he commands a wider political support.
