Ruto expressed concern that opposition leaders were setting a dangerous precedent when they call for disobedience of the Judiciary.

He said recent events in the country clearly showed the opposition wanted Kenyans to totally disregard the Constitution.

Ruto said Cord had declined to engage in talks in Parliament and now it was targeting its arsenal to the Judiciary, both independent institutions recognised by the Constitution.

The Deputy President said leaders should be responsible for their actions and stop dividing the country on tribal backgrounds.

“All leaders should exercise restraint so that we don't divide Kenyans or bring animosity among people or communities. We want to have an indivisible country,” said Ruto.

He told leaders to demonstrate maturity in politics and solve challenges facing the country amicably.

Ruto told the opposition to respect the provisions of the Constitution on the removal of IEBC commissioners from office adding that respecting courts decisions was a duty of all Kenyans.

“They can protest against President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto but surely not the courts or other bodies created in the Constitution,” he said.

He said both Jubilee and Cord MPs were arraigned in court over allegations of hate speech and they should let the law take its course.
