Former Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba has asked the Opposition NASA to respect the Supreme Court's ruling over President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection.

The apex court upheld Uhuru's October 26 victory, declaring that he was validly elected as President.

The ruling elicited mixed reactions, with parts of the Opposition strongholds experiencing chaos and violence.

However, speaking on Wednesday under the banner Council of Professionals of Kenya, Namwamba reiterated the need for Opposition leaders to appreciate the ruling.

“A key principle of democracy is respect for institutions. While we may not agree with the decision made by our institutions such as the Supreme Court’s rulings, we must all the times respect their decisions,” he said.

Following the Monday ruling, preparations for Uhuru's swearing in ceremony are said to be in top gear as he prepares take charge for his second term in office.
