Annab Gure, Garissa Jubilee women rep aspirant has told Kenyans to stop criticizing the women rep seat and instead elect women leaders who can deliver.

She said the seat is constitutional for women from all the 47 counties, arguing that there is a negative perception in the North Eastern region where women have not been taken seriously in leadership positions.

“People should turn up on August 8 and elect leaders who can deliver as promised in their respective manifesto for the benefit of women and youths,” she said.

She accused elders from the region for denying potential women the opportunity into leadership roles in the past.

“North Eastern women in the past were locked out of leadership positions due to culture but the women rep seat was created to enable women exploit their leadership roles across the country,” she noted.

She said women who have held elective positions have proved their leadership.

She added that she has all it takes to be women rep due to her experience in managerial roles.

“Having worked in the private sector, NGO  and in government I am equiped with the experience to utilize public resources for the benefit of all the residents whether they elected me or not,” she said.

She vowed to seek votes across the county to emerge victorious in August 8 polls.

“I will campaign even at my rivals' perceived strongholds because I want to be elected by all the tribes residing and voting in Garissa county,” she said.
