Port Reitz Ward MCA aspirant Okolla Fredrick Ojwang’ has urged his opponent in the just concluded ODM party primaries to respect the wishes of the electorates.

Ojwang' won the nomination with 430 votes against his opponent Fadhili Mwalimu Makarani's 420.

Speaking at Mombasa’s Moi International Airport upon his arrival from Nairobi after being issued with the nomination certificate, Ojwang' asked Fadhili to accept the results saying there is no short cut to ascending to leadership apart from through a democratic system.

“ODM has just concluded an internal democratic exercise and I urge party members to unite and focus their energy ahead of the polls,” said Ojwang'.

The MCA apirant said the party is bigger than any individual and urged party members to drum up support for Raila Odinga to ensure he unseats President Uhuru Kenyatta in the forthcoming general election.

The flamboyant Mombasa businessman criticized Fadhili for lodging a protest against his victory, saying he should instead concede defeat.

He asked Fadhili to file a complaint with the relevant authority instead of engaging in protests.

Ojwang applauded the ODM Election Board for issuing him with the nomination, adding that he is ready to face his opponents in the August 8 polls.
