A restaurant manager was today arraigned in a court in Nakuru to face charges of theft from employer and vandalism. Daniel Muchina 31,who appeared before Chief Resident Magistrate Felix Kombo denied that on January 28 this year, being the manager of Slopes Restaurant within Nakuru town failed to exercise maximum responsibility to avert a vandalism act that led to the theft of food stuff, electronic equipments among other property belonging to Stephen Mwangi the proprietor of the restaurant. The prosecution desk urged that at around 12noon on the said day, vandals broke into the restaurant in a manner that was suspect that they had a clue on the operations of the business place and stole a Television set worth sh.45,000,a DSTV booster worth sh.10,000,a microwave worth sh.30,000 and food stuff worth sh,15,000 from the restaurant. According to the prosecution desk, the manager who had been on duty until 10pm that day failed to convince the management of the restaurant and police officers investigating the incident that he was not part of a mastermind to break into the business place and carry out a robbery. The court was told that the accused was obliged to keep the keys to major doors, safe and Tv Cabinet but investigations revealed that some items were removed from the building without much struggle to break the locks. The accused denied the charges and was released on a cash bond of sh.100,000.The case will be heard on February 27.
