Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has called on Coast residents to maintain peace considering the repeat presidential election has been concluded in the area.Mvurya said that the coastal region depends largely on tourism, adding that the NASA anti-IEBC demonstrations have kept tourists away thereby hurting the area's economy. He, however, noted that the Coast region has started regaining normalcy and urged residents to return to their businesses come Monday and help build the economy."Demonstrations are hurting our economy. Our main economic activity is tourism but the demos are only keeping the tourists away. However, it is good to note that normalcy is returning in the area and I am calling on our people to resume normal operations on Monday and help continue building the economy of the region and the country at large," said Mvurya. The governor made the remarks while addressing journalists in Mombasa where he called on anyone disputing the fresh presidential results to follow the law in doing so just as was the case in August."I am calling on anyone disputing the repeat presidential election to do so according to the law just as it was done after the August 8 election," added Mvurya. The county boss also thanked everyone who maintained peace despite boycotting Thursday’s poll.
