Muslim leaders in Uasin Gishu county want all cabinet secretaries - retained and the newly nominated, vetted afresh by Parliament.
Led by the county's Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) chairman Sheikh Abubabar Bini, the clergy argued that those retained or moved to other ministries should be vetted based on their performance.
This comes after the National Assembly leader of Majority Adan Duale said Cabinet Sectaries retained by President Uhuru Kenyatta would not be taken through the vetting process.
The President retained six CS's and named three new ones when he unveiled a partial cabinet last Friday.
"If someone was vetted and approved by Parliament five years ago, it doesn't mean he/she is still suitable to hold that position today. There is the need for those retained to also be vetted based on their track record," Sheikh Bini told the press in Eldoret town on Tuesday.
"Vetting gives room for public scrutiny and skipping the process for those retained means denying Kenyans a right to air their views about that nominee some of who might have engaged in corruption deals or human rights abuse while in office," he added.
