Raila Odinga who nearly won the 2007 poll in a contentious presidential election had used an effective system of identifying top and strong politicians from all over the country to deliver votes, a system that proved effective.

During the poll, the effort of now Amani coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi won him nearly all Western province votes and so did Najib Balala from the Coast, William Ruto from Rift Valley and Charity Ngilu from Ukambani.

The team which was popularly referred to as the 'Pentagon' also included Joseph Nyagah from Central, effectively mobilised Raila supporters in 2007.

According to nominated MCA from Kisumu Faridah Juma, Raila should use the 2007 approach as a sure way to win the presidency, the seat that has eluded him three times in controversial circumstances.

"As we stand with Raila to ensure that he wins the 2017 poll, we advice him to use the 2007 approach which worked well for him. It made him win the Presidency, though his votes were 'stolen'," said the ODM politician on Thursday at a function in Nyakach.

She added that the position of Cord is to ensure that a credible electoral body is constituted to conduct a credible poll in 2017 declaring that street protests will not stop.
