Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has said that National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga will be humiliated if he decides to vie for the country's top seat in the 2022 general elections.
According to the Jubilee governor, Deputy President William Ruto will beat him hands down in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“We don’t need to argue so much because Raila will be defeated by DP Ruto in 2022. Ruto has the potential to lead this country because he has proved to be the leader. He helped President Uhuru Kenyatta to clinch the country’s top seat in 2013 and 2017 and nothing is going to stop him from becoming the next president in 2022,” he said.
Mandago further urged Jubilee leaders from the Mt. Kenya region to stop unnecessary wrangles because they know who will succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta after he completes his term in 2022.
A section of leaders in the vote-rich region has been engaging in a war of words over DP Ruto's candidacy in 2022 with some saying he is not yet guaranteed absolute from the region.
“Jubilee leaders from the Kikuyu community should stop misleading Kenyans about who should succeed Uhuru in 2022. We all know it is DP Ruto and that remains. For now, let’s focus on helping UhuRuto to deliver quality services to Kenyans as by their campaign manifesto. Small fights within Jubilee party will derail development projects across the country,” said the vocal governor who is serving his second term in office.
